Hello Albert,

I’m sorry that I haven’t responded to your invitation before now but I’m sure that you’ll be aware that I’ve had quite a bit to digest and contextualise in these last few days. Yes I am very happy to meet with you when you return from leave. Indeed it would be churlish of me not to take up invitation given that I am absolutely committed to the QVMAG continuing to be a major force among Tasmania’s musingplaces and recovering some lost ground.

More than simply meet with you, I undertake to put together a discussion paper that attempts to pull together that which is, that which might be, that which has been achieved elsewhere and that, with some effort, might yet be achieved.

For all of Tasmania’s musingplaces it is apparent that the State government has something more than tinkering around the edges of the status quo in mind. Clearly, the QVMAG needs to prepare itself for a major paradigm shift. Given all that, there is a need to be innovative, audatious even, if Tasmanians investments in this institution is do more than survive as fiscal burden. It needs to succeed! The QVMAG holds the promise of flourishing in a 21st C context. All this is so despite the tasks ahead being somewhat analogous to eating an elephant ... only possible one bite at a time.

Against that background there is some ground to be made up and no good purpose will be served attending to the trivial and inconsequential.

I am happy to meet with you after I return from leave (week beginning 21 July) to discuss the possibility of a community not-for-profit enterprise.  This will depend on Council's continuing meetings with the State Government as to the involvement they will require should they commit to more funding.
